Savedinhem
Savedinhem is a continent comprised of 7 lands, united under the Savedic Empire. It’s first era began in the 5000s, conquering the Ring of Talvis, which it held until the Efreans and Liotian dragons liberated the lands in the Savedic territory in the early 6000s. This war made it’s way back to Savedinhem, and brought an end to the first era of the Savedic Empire. The first era was defined by the pursuit and study of magic. In the final days of the war the Savedic people began to pray to the god of Ego, the Titan, to save them from the Efreans. In their prayers they spoke of how the Efreans were encroaching on the Titan’s domain, to which the Titan responded to by wiping out the Efreans.
The second era of the Savedic empire began with the worship of the Titan. After the empire was rebuilt in the aftermath of the Efreans, and the lands reshaped to accommodate the new worship, the empire began to conquer their neighbours, with no efreans to stop them. The Lassari Islands, North Kettiin, and Fellia all fell under the rule of Savedinhem, until the empire suddenly collapsed at the start of the Tales of a Shattered Empire anthology.
A Military Society
Societal Structure
Cersa
At the lowest rung of society are the Cersa. A serving class of people whose lives revolve around the hourly needs of the Sangira. Entire families live with soldiers so they can be of service at all times, from cooking food, drawing baths, cleaning. Almost every conceivable task is performed by the Cersa, in exchange the Sangira take responsibility for them, ensuring the children are raised well, and no harm comes to the Cersa from those equal to or beneath the Sangira’s station. Cersa families are always a different race than their Sangira hosts. If the families of Cersa grow to great in number it is the responsibility of the Sangira to find a place for them in Savedic society. It is also the responsibility of the Sangira to give permit the Cersa to marry.
Antecas
Antecas have no direct role in Savedic society. They are allowed their own traditions as long as they cooperate with the empire. These groups are most often from pre-imperial cultural holdouts or the locals of conquered lands that the empire has no interest in micromanaging. Groups of Antecas will be appointed a Densiori from outside their culture to account for their contributions to the empire.
Strua
Strua are builders and farmers, they are a free service class. Their schedules are dictated by others but their personal lives are their own. By no means do they live glorious or even fulfilling lives, often working all day, though the Strua are given empty credit by the rest of Savedic society. “Strua are the foundation of our culture.” “Don’t forget we are built on the backs of the Strua.” Nothing meaningful comes from these sentiments to improve the lives of the Strua.
Sculo
Sculo are the educated, scholarly, artisan, mercantile, and magic studied class of people. They are the lowest class to have their salaries paid by the empire, which trickles down to the Strua and Antecas. They have the most personal agency, to choose where they want to live, what they want to do. Though not living in extravagance, sometimes multiple families of Sculo will pay for a Cersa family to help attend to their needs. The functional service of this class of people varies, they largely exist to unknowingly uphold the ego of the upper class.
Unsangira
Unsangira are soldiers in training, acting as guards and enforcers. They collect taxes, report crime, and bully the lower classes. They live in barracks, and are responsible for taking care of themselves. They are made up of young people who will become Sangira, or people who were not cut out for being a soldier.
Sangira
Though there are many roles within the military, Sangira is the broad term for anybody in military service. Sangira are assigned to a legion, and are given a home in a city that the legion is stationed. They live lives of comfort at home, where their main responsibility is to keep in physical shape. Though they have some responsibility to the Cersa, like advocating for their Cersa in trials if a charge is brought against them. Outside of home they are expected to be able to fend for themselves, hunt, cook, clean, create shelter.
Presceno
The Presceno also have orders and substructures, but the term broadly refers to the priestly class, who worship the Titan and the Moons. The Presceno have acolytes who perform the roles that Cersa would, but are considered in the same class. The Presceno are found in the military, on the streets, in magic schools, and in temples. They are the most diverse class, and are cultural leaders.
Imperus
The Imperus class is made up of Senate politicians whose service is to the Empress. They benefit from the Cersa, but have Sangira attend to the specific needs of their Cersa. They are the few decision makers, shaping Savedic society and directing legions.
