About:

The Living World of Callar is an ongoing project, telling hundreds of stories to create a narrative tapestry unlike any other. The world has seen well over 200 pcs across 100 players in 50 campaigns. Each campaign is an intimately told story, giving player characters room to breathe and find their footing, before eventually being woven into the grand narrative.

The experience of these games exists on five levels; campaign, anthology, community, world, and legacy.

Campaign

Each campaign takes a small slice of a greater story. When characters enter this collectively shared and experienced world, nobody can take centre stage as the chosen heroes. The perspective of individual campaigns is about personal struggle contextualized by a theme, while the party intimately explores a piece of the world.

Anthology

Each campaign is part of a larger story that requires a collective solution. Parties gather different pieces of the story and theme, accumulating unique perspectives create a full, living picture. Parties experience small character crossovers throughout their stories, creating small connections with the other parties before things are eventually brought together.

Community

Through the crossovers players are not just connected with other characters, but other people from across the world. Before entering the community players are curated through an application and chemistry test process. The experience of large, interwoven stories is made special by the vast network of connections created not by the characters, but by the players. Players are personally curated to ensure each individual will feel a sense of belonging in the community, and that they can carry the responsibility of welcoming future players.

World

Beyond the first campaign, first crossover, first story, the player will begin to see the scope of the grander world. How each anthology ties in to an even larger story, the living world of Callar. The world is not one that can be understood from the perspective of a single campaign, and as the individual anthologies collect, a picture of the greater world is slowly revealed. Secrets sowed in the world before these games were run professionally wait to be discovered, and plans set it motion at the start of the very first game, with the very first player unfold at a patient but powerful pace.

Legacy

Once a player has told a story in this world, it leaves a legacy. Choices, mistakes, and bloodlines echo into anthologies past and future. Some players find themselves creating backstories for their future characters as they play their present ones. New players will unknowingly feel the consequences of choices made before them. The depth and reward of the experience grow with each passing session, connection, and campaign.

A story about a people struggling against their worst selves, trying to reclaim a land in the name of an empire who failed them.

Tales of a Shattered Empire is the vast central anthology set in and around the continent of Savedinhem. The Savedic empire, until recently, ruled over its neighbours, collecting resource and seeding roots to grow it’s population and power. Their rule serves their ego, and the god of ego they worship, The Titan, Haruv.

Though the Titan is the god of the second era, many centuries before this the empire studied magecraft, and their empire stretched to lands far in the ring of Talvis, rather than near. At this time there was a people to their west who held them to account, the Efreans. These powerful people dismantled the first era empire, and then were taken from the face of this world.

Tales of a Shattered Empire is just one small piece in the grand story that is the Legacy of Efrea.
