Death - La’iya

La’iya

La'iya(la-EE-ah) is a celestial deity responsible for all mortal souls who pass beyond the material plane. Her followers are somber and stand-offish, but kind at heart. La'iya was amongst the first gods to ascend. Her worship has done the most to keep mortal lands safe from any kind of incursions.

A Celestine of La'iya will have midnight black skin and eyes like the night the sky.

La'iya teaches her followers patience, humility, and service. She empowers her followers to give and take life, so that they might protect the balance. Followers are dutiful to a fault, sometimes self sacrificing. They are attendants of life, but in the abssence of the light of Ithiisia they have the capacity to succumb to grief and fury. Some of the most dangerous individuals to walk the material plane are followers of La'iya.

Followers of La'iya are meant to be reserved and thoughtful, but their first priority is to protect life, and exact balance on those who would threaten it. A warrior of La'iya without anybody to protect is the greatest threat under the celestial domains. It is said La'iya chose to place Mortesh amongst the hells and abysses to help keep the fiends in line.

La'iya's symbol is the black pane. A reflective black disc meant to be a reminder of death and its inevitability.

La'iya can be felt it the darkness and solace of night, and in the bitter cold of winter. She is sometimes known as mother winter.

Her followers will find themselves in Mortesh when they pass from the material plane. There are no celestials created in Mortesh, but rather the loyal souls that pass into Mortesh become Celestials of La'iya. Helping maintain the plane and carrying the burden of the domain of death.

The Reviver/The Bridge Back Home - Ilojevia

Ilojevia(ill-oh-JEV-ee-ah) is a celestial deity who created the divine infrastructure to return souls back from the dead. Her followers are often macabre, and find themselves around death. They both call souls back when the world is in need of them, and ease the passing of elders when their time comes.

Ilojevia belongs in the domains of life and death. For this reason a Celestine of Ilojevia will have grey skin and grey eyes.

Ilojevia teachers her followers to understand death so they may reach beyond it. They are also taught to be judges, as they possess a stronger grasp of returning souls to their bodies. They must learn to be insightful and guarded, and above all honest. They learn of the rivers of Mortesh, and how souls are taken into planes beyond. Priests of Ilojevia are the only people who may return a soul to a body without knowing them in life. This means they must also take responsibility for the actions of the souls they return to the material plane.

Her symbol is the bridge back home, a bridge that crosses a river, meant to represent the crossing of the rivers of Mortesh as a soul returns to the mortal plane.
